All-day workshops (atelier et déjeuner)
These workshops are conducted entirely in French and are designed to "immerse" you in a French-speaking environment for the day. At the end of the day we hope that you will have experienced what it is like to start "thinking in French" and will go away with the sounds of French ringing in your ears.

These days move away from desks and dictionaries and encourage you to improvise within a supportive environment.  You can always fill in the gaps using gestures, expressions, and anything else except English!   Be prepared to have fun and have a go!  See photos and report from an earlier "fun with French" day

Although the days may follow similar formats, they are all "stand alone" events. Different activities or material will be covered in each, but there is no planned progression, (other than your own improvement, of course) so you do not need to have followed the first one to be able to take part fully in the second one etc

The "Fun with French" workshops aim to cater for varying levels but you will need an existing knowledge of basic spoken French.  The tutors will be happy to discuss and advise you on this. Both tutors are qualified and experienced French tutors who have studied, lived and worked in France.

The beginners' workshops - "Fun with beginners' French" - format
These workshops are aimed at "almost beginners". The emphasis will be on "ringing bells" from things you have done in the past and "unlocking" the French which you have a vague feeling is there but not actually usable.

As with the "Fun with French" workshops the days move away from desks and dictionaries. We will of course be reminding you of things you can use in the way of basic French that you can call upon to get by in France. However the main emphasis will be on helping you to actually speak French through practising in various different but overlapping situations and with different people, throughout the day. This way you will be listening to and saying the same things over and over again, but always in slightly different contexts and with different twists and turns, just as you would if you were out and about in France.

The activities are exclusively oral and the proceedings will be light hearted and aimed at getting you to practise, practise, practise in an enjoyable relaxed atmosphere. Be prepared to have fun and have a go!

Liz and Linda will be speaking French as much as possible both to you and to each other during the day, and English will only be used when needed.

These workshops are both "standalone" days. This means that you can attend one, or both, as it suits you. While some of the language introduced will be the same, the way that it is practised will be different.
