For further information, or to book your place on our next course
contact Linda or Liz.

These mornings move away from desks and dictionaries and encourage you to improvise within a supportive environment.  You can always fill in the gaps using gestures, expressions, and anything else except English!   Be prepared to have fun and have a go!  The mornings aim to cater for varying levels but you will need an existing knowledge of basic spoken French.  The tutors will be happy to discuss and advise you on this. Both tutors are qualified and experienced French tutors who have studied, lived and worked in France.

Speaking French in groups

The workshop approach:
Many improver and intermediate students feel that they need a kick-start to get going when it comes to being able to use basic everyday spoken French in context. The activity morning workshops provide a half-way house between regular classes and spending time with French speakers in France

- an opportunity to use and practise your French
- put what you know into practice
- enjoy a relaxed, informal atmosphere
- boost your confidence with everyday French
- get encouragement and support from two friendly, experienced tutors
- meet and chat with like-minded people

The beginners' workshops - "Fun with beginners' French" - format
These workshops are aimed at "almost beginners". This could be people who have done some French at some time, possibly many years ago, and have forgotten all, or almost all of it. On the other hand you may never have studied French in a classroom, but you may have learnt a little during frequent holidays to France. Maybe you have just started to learn French in an adult education setting and have done a couple of terms or so.

The activities are exclusively oral, the proceedings will be light hearted and aimed at getting you to practise, practise, practise in an enjoyable relaxed atmosphere. We have planned a variety of activities where you can interact with various different people using a limited number of useful basics. The emphasis is on getting used to actually speaking French in slightly different but overlapping situations so that you become confident with what you have practised. You should start to build up a bank of basic everyday phrases that you can understand and use in conversation with some-one in France.

These workshops are "standalone" days. This means that you can attend one, or both, as it suits you. While some of the language introduced will be the same, the way that it is practised will be different.

While English will be used where absolutely necessary, Liz and Linda will be speaking French as much as possible both to you and to each other and you will be speaking in French as well!. Don't worry, we have ways of helping you to speak and understand, and making it fun at the same time
