French Activity Workshops

We are taking bookings for the August French workshop on August 25th 2010, and if you let us know by 1st August, you can still get the "early bird" discount. (£30 for the day, instead of £35)

About the site
This site was started to keep you informed about the French workshops at Kennaway House in Sidmouth and The Old Convent, (the Council Offices) in Ottery St. Mary, Devon. At present it provides information about the immersion days and the beginners' days - what to expect, our approach, whether there are still places available and so on. You will also find reports and photos (and one recording) from previous workshops.

The immersion days - - "Fun with French", "Summer French" and "August French"
(for improver - intermediate students)

Many improver and intermediate students feel that they need a kick-start to get going when it comes to being able to use basic everyday spoken French in context. The all-day workshops provide a half-way house between regular classes and spending time with French speakers in France

- an opportunity to use and practise your French
- put what you know into practice
- enjoy a relaxed, informal atmosphere
- boost your confidence with everyday French
- get encouragement and support from two friendly, experienced tutors
- meet and chat with like-minded people

The beginners' workshops - "Fun with beginners' French"
These workshops are aimed at "almost beginners". This could be people who have done some French at some time, possibly many years ago, and have forgotten all, or almost all of it. On the other hand you may never have studied French in a classroom, but you may have learnt a little during frequent holidays to France. Maybe you have just started to learn French in an adult education setting and have done a couple of terms or so.

- practise basic spoken French in a variety of different situations
- enjoy a relaxed, informal atmosphere
- get encouragement and support from two friendly experienced tutors
- meet and practise with like-minded people
- boost your confidence and inspire you to continue
